Management whitetail hunts on private family owned

and operated 1000 acre MLD ranch. (4-5 hunts available per season)

My family has been managing the whitetail herd for 30 plus years on our

ranch southeast of Seguin, Texas, and continue to have a very healthy

population.  Our doe to buck ratio is very close to 1 1/2 to 1.  We conduct

2-3 spotlight surveys and several daylight observations between

late August and September, to make sure we are maintaining a healthy herd.

We also fly the ranch every couple years in February.  Videoing our bucks

and setting out game cameras is a big part of our success. This allows us

to study each buck that steps into view for aging and body weight determination.

 This also allows us to know what areas of the ranch certain bucks are calling home.

Our management bucks range from the mid 120 B&C to lower 140 class.  ​

We have many different styles of hunting on the ranch, depending on the timing of the hunt.  Being an MLD ranch, our season runs from October 1st through the last full weekend in February.  Typically, our rut is around Thanksgiving, and hunting on the ground or in a pop-up blind while rattling can be effective during this time.  Pre and post ruts can be successful from one of our many stands.  Watching over vast senderos and fields, as the deer graze along the edges picking on forbes and acorns.
